WINTER
2007/ 2008
Dear
Friends of the
Domain,As I am writing this, snow is
falling on the Highlands, making our surroundings look like a postcard.
The holiday season has come and gone leaving us with more fond memories
of Christmas and the gala evening of New Year's.
After the traditional six-course dinner, we almost had the count down to
midnight right this year, thanks to the help of so many revellers with
accurate watches. We look back at a past
season of continued improvements at the Domain. We hear a lot about the
new bedding in every accommodation with mattresses and duvets so
comfortable, only our famous freshly baked croissants will get you out
of bed in the morning.
2007 was the year
of the returning guest.
In twenty two years, we had never seen so many regulars coming through the
entrance door for a weekend or a whole week stay. What had happened to
them in the meantime? They put their kids through school, changed jobs,
houses, sometimes left the country temporarily. They remembered however
and they returned to the Domain to find us a little older, a lot
improved, but basically impervious to fads, still authentic and
non-commercial.
Many thanked us for not selling out or as they said, changing a good thing.
We also noticed the arrival of a new generation of
youthful and active guests who come to take full advantage of the
outdoors but want to enjoy a quiet and laid back atmosphere.
We are getting lots of fresh snow on our trails and the dog sleds
powdering out towards the forest and Ritchie lake have become a common
sight in the morning.
At 4:00 p.m., every afternoon, you will also notice the presence of snow-dripping skis
and snowshoes in our foyer. Just in time for the hot chocolate
gathering.
You can enjoy this homemade delight by the fire,
with Beverley's cookies and banana bread.
You will now be able to "get away and stay in
touch" thanks to our newly installed wireless internet. It will be
available in your chalet accommodation and in the conference
house.
I hope this finds you well, we look forward
to seeing you this winter.
With our fond regards, Jean-Edouard
