First snow has fallen at the Domain. Time to put on warm woolens and welcome another winter season. We are anticipating fantastic cross-country skiing and snowshoeing within the beautiful landscape.
The Carrig Loop is now ready for those of us who would like to have an easy trail, just to get some exercise and work up a good appetite for Chef Emily’s dinners. As many of you will appreciate, we have finally gotten around to improving and organizing our winter sports equipment. We finished the new kitchen garden and have put up some fencing on the property, adding to the overall aesthetics. We have also constructed a covered wood stack outside each cabin, so guests will have plenty of wood for relaxing evenings by their own fireplace. Breakfast will now be served between 8:30 and 9:30 am., and dinner between 6:30 and 7:30 pm.
Many of you know what a magical and special experience it is here at the Domain of Killien. We are very different from other country inns, which is exactly what keeps you coming back. For those of you who have never been here, we hope you will come and find out for yourself. Our focus is on the beauty of nature, wildlife, forests, peace and serenity. We are the real thing – unpretentious, warm and welcoming. After your choice of activity in this tranquil setting, there is always a cozy and romantic dining experience by the fire at the end of the day, a comfortable room to return to with a warm feather top bed, and a delicious breakfast to look forward to in the morning.
Christmas and New Years will be celebrated with old-fashioned charm. The Count and Countess De Moustier will be here to join in the festivities once again this year, and they look forward to welcoming you.
On Christmas Day, come and join us in the lounge for chestnuts roasted on an open fire, served with spiced wine or cider. In the evening, a superb four-course dinner will be served in front of a roaring fire.
New Years Eve will be celebrated with a decadent five-course meal, including a bottle of champagne per couple. Live music will discreetly entertain during the evening and after dinner we will provide for dancing. An outdoor bonfire will top off the night and welcome in the New Year.
Starting in January, with the Holidays behind us, you can have a winter aperitif in the lounge, served with Chef Emily’s famous tapenade.
From January 20 to 22, take part in a wine tasting weekend hosted by Peter Sainsbury. It will be entertaining and informative and Chef will prepare a delectable five-course dinner to accompany the finest French wines.
We are looking forward to welcoming our old and new friends. As we say in French, À bientôt (See you soon!)
